Description

Bring a touch of the tropics into your home with the elegant Areca Palm (Dypsis lutescens). Renowned for its graceful arching fronds and vibrant green foliage, this beautiful palm creates an instant sense of freshness and sophistication in any indoor space. Its light, airy appearance complements both modern and traditional interiors, making it one of the UK’s most popular houseplants.

Native to Madagascar, the Areca Palm naturally grows in warm, humid conditions and thrives indoors with minimal care. Over time, it develops multiple slender stems topped with soft, feathery fronds that gently arch outwards, creating a full, elegant display. Whether placed in a bright living room, hallway, conservatory or office, it adds height, texture and a calming, tropical atmosphere.

Supplied as a healthy potted plant, the Areca Palm is easy to grow and rewards regular care with lush new growth throughout the year. Its attractive appearance and low-maintenance nature make it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced plant enthusiasts.

How to Care for Areca Palm

• Place in bright, indirect light away from strong afternoon sun.

• Water when the top few centimetres of compost begin to dry, keeping the soil lightly moist but never waterlogged.

• Enjoys higher humidity and benefits from occasional misting or being placed near other houseplants.

• Feed monthly with a balanced houseplant fertiliser during spring and summer.

• Remove older fronds as they naturally age to keep the plant looking its best.
